Ellender Produces Superb Display
JACK Ellender produced a superb display despite a night of drama at the Boxing Gym in Birmingham. Representing the Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre, Jack was ready to fight Jamie Edwards in the National Schoolboy quarter-finals when a member of the audience suffered a heart attack and needed medical attention.
The boxers waited in their dressing rooms for 45 minutes until they were cleared for action.
Ellender dominated his opponent with power-punching and slick movement in the first round, but the bout had to restart when it became apparent that the judges’ electronic scorecards were not working.
Unfazed, Ellender eased to victory over three rounds.
